Faith Formation for Children and Teens

Our Faith Formation programs here at St. Patrick's exists to assist you in your role as parents and guardians in your children’s ongoing faith formation, as well as to help you keep the solemn promises you made before God on the day they were baptized.  It is our goal to provide you with the support and means necessary to raise your children as strong Catholics in today’s world. Here at St. Patrick's, we offer Faith Formation classes that will prepare your children to receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation along with the opportunity to continue to deepen their faith and to grow in their relationship with the Lord.

This year we are all adjusting to our "new  normal" and I thank you in advance as we continue to discern what this means for our program and how to continue to provide a safe and healthy environment for all of our parishioners and families. After prayer and careful consideration we have devised a plan that will continue to offer the community and catechetical formation for our families and students while also offering a safe and healthy environment.

One of our biggest challenges is addressing the comfort level of different families at this time as everyone’s health concerns vary in severity. We hope to address this by offering two different options for families to participate in this year. Additionally, due to the seemingly ever increasing rise in percent positive coronavirus cases, and the Palm County Public School System’s decision to delay their start date, we have also decided to delay our start date. Our sessions will begin on September 27, 2020.

REGISTRATION AT THIS TIME HAS CLOSED FOR THE 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR

Below I have outlined the sessions that we will be offering this year along with a detail explanation of each:

General Faith Formation Options:

Online: Elementary grade students and parents will walk themselves through the St. Mary’s Press’ Discover! lesson plan online with a Catechists monitoring their work. At least once a month a catechist will check in with the students and their parent either via Zoom or a phone call to go over anything and see if they have any questions. Please note that due to Diocesan safe environment policy parents will be required to be present for these virtual meetings with the Catechist. You can learn more about the St. Mary’s Press Program Here

Online: 6th and 7th grade students will walk themselves through the Sophia Press’ Spirit of Truth lesson plan online and with a catechist assigning and tracking work to ensure accountability. At least once a month a catechist will meet with the students and their parent using a virtual platform to go over anything and see if they have any questions. Please note that due to Diocesan safe environment policy parents will be required to be present for these virtual meetings with the Catechist. You can learn more about the Sophia Press Program Here

In Person: 1st - 7th Grade families will meet monthly for small group instruction from Catechists at St. Patrick’s Parish Hall using Sophia Press’ A Family of Faith program. Students and Families will be assigned one Sunday a month and will meet at the Church with the same families each month. Groups will rotate through the month so that only 25% of the families are in the building on a given Sunday. The remaining weeks parents will continue their families’ faith formation at home with the outlined activities in the Family Handbook.

First Communion Options: Using “Blessed: First Reconciliation and First Communion” Program:

Online Only: Because 2nd grade is preparation for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion, we will be offering a Catechist led online class once a week where the students will join and participate with other students in the online activities prepared.

In Person: Students and families will attend the monthly family sessions and weekly lesson plans for the parents to continue at home will be assigned. In class the students will continue using the “Blessed” program and then parents will take home lesson outlines tailored for parents to teach the students at home.

Confirmation Plan: YDisciple and CHOSEN online platforms

Confirmation will begin with a delayed start date in October with monthly in person sessions and weekly online Catechist led small group sessions. Students will attend monthly classes on a rotating schedule so that only 25% of the students are in the building at a given time. Exceptions for students with health concerns for themselves or family members will be accepted. When not in class students will meet online with their same small group led by their small group Catechist.
