Dear Parishioners,

In our May Parish Council meeting I gave a short report on the last five years of our parish as we prepare for our next five years’ goals and objectives.

In terms of the Spiritual Life of the parish we have good liturgies with an improved choir. We have had more opportunities for spiritual growth with Scripture classes, Bible study groups, Parish Missions, guest speakers, improved training and scheduling for Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist and Lectors.

In terms of Parish Life we have had the formation of various committees, Strategic Planning groups that have led to the formation of Parish Council, Finance Committee and the position of Business Manager. We have a bereavement group, outreach to the homebound and sick, the homeless ministry has been expanded as has our outreach to missions in Haiti, Honduras, Guatemala, Pahokee and Indiantown. We have an active Youth Ministry and a summer youth mission to Pahokee.

In terms of the financial situation at St. Patrick we have an active Finance Council with oversight of the finances and budget with checks and balances.

In terms of the parish plant the grounds have been much improved as has the electrical system, upkeep of the buildings and the security system.

All of this is due to the hard work of many parishioners and staff and we are extremely grateful for their stewardship! As we move forward we invite all of our parishioners to get involved in some aspect of ministry. The more we work together the more we build up the Body of Christ.

I would like to report on our two big fundraisers of the year, the Bernard J. Dooley Golf Tournament and the Car Raffle. The Raffle this year raised $45,000 for the parish and the Golf Tournament raised $ 16,700. We used the funds raised for various charities and also underwriting the parish picnic and other parish activities. The Charities supported from the proceeds include the Guatemalan Fund, Amigo de Jesus, Catholic Charities, St. Ann’s Place, Hospice of the Palm Beaches, Cardinal Newman H.S. Band, tuition for All Saints for parish families in need, Birthline/Lifeline, Quantum House and summer camp assistance for poor children in Indiantown and Lake Worth. Thanks to your generous support we were able to reach out to others in need.

I believe our future is bright based on the past five years and that we are blessed in God’s Spirit! May we continue remaining open to His Spirit and bringing Christ to all.

 In Christ’s Peace,

Father Brian Flanagan, Pastor
